You get the sole long lease right to the apartment and it will officially be registered with local authorities in Phuket. Normally, as a foreign person you are not allowed to own land in Thailand but are offered the opportunity to lease the land for 30 years and then be titled to build your house on the leased property instead. This means you own a house or an apartment on leased ground which can be risky because there are “normally” no guarantees that your leasehold land will be possible to renew after 30 years. If there is a short time left on the lease hold there might be difficulties in selling the property. However, the land at Scandinavian Lagoon Resort is owned by Scandinavian Laguna Co., Ltd. and by You controlling Your lease extension by a “voting majority right” there is no time limit regarding your right to the ownership of the apartment.
Re-registration or sales
The ownership of the apartment can later be re-registered to an individual of your choise or be sold for current market value.
